Kathie Davidson

Practice Manager

Kathie Davidson , Toronto Equine HospitalKathie has been with the Toronto Equine Hospital since 1994 and is our Practice Manager.  In this position, Kathie is responsible for monitoring the clinic finances, managing client accounts, and overseeing issues related to human resources and public relations.  As an avid rider during her childhood, her involvement with horses has brought her life-long friendships and riding companions.  Her fondest memories are of the first horse she owned, Wizard, with whom she took some of her first riding lessons and schooling shows.  Kathie’s personal interests include photography, spending time with her family, and sailing with her husband, Michael.  She also enjoys spending time with dog Zachary .

 

Jill Surette, RVT

Registered Veterinary Technician, Inventory Manager

Jill Surette RVT, Toronto Equine HospitalJill graduated with honours from the Veterinary Technician Program at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in 1997. She brings to our team over 15 years of experience and expertise gained from working at various hospitals in the greater Toronto area (GTA), including two years at the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC).  Jill joined the Toronto Equine Hospital in the summer of 2000.  From a young age, Jill knew that her life would always be devoted to the animals around her.  She never realized how closely, though, until the experience of providing around-the-clock care to her three month old corgi and multiple trips to the veterinary clinic.  As a veterinary technician, Jill particularly enjoys nuclear scintigraphy and radiography.  She is also instrumental in managing the inventory of the clinic.  Jill shares her home with her husband Jeff, daughter Hayleigh, Orangey the cat and Riley their Lab.  Jill hopes to one day own another quiet quarter horse and compete in dressage and eventing, as she did with her quarter horse Danny, who she recently said goodbye to at 23 years of age.  Jill enjoys camping and travelling together with her family.

 

Amanda Cole-Fitzpatrick, RVT

Image of Amanda Cole-Fitzpatrick, RVTAmanda started at the Toronto Equine Hospital in 2003 following her placement through the Veterinary Technician Program at Seneca College.  Her love of horses began at an early age when she competed at a master level as a Prince Philip Gamer (PPG), and through her time as an eventer with the Simcoe Pony Club.  Amanda’s veterinary interests include nuclear scintigraphy, surgery, patient care, and mentoring externship students.  She is an avid racing enthusiast, and is always rooting for the horses under our care as they compete.  Outside of work Amanda enjoys baking, crafting and hiking with her husband Wil.  She also enjoys spending time with her cat Bailey, and her yellow lab Marlee.

 

 

Tanya Smith, RVT

Registered Veterinary Technician

Tanya graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at St. Clair College in 2008, tanyaafter completing the Animal Care Program at Sheridan College in 2006.  Before her schooling, her experience with horses included riding in the hunter/jumper rings, and working in a standardbred training operation.  With a desire to learn more about medicine, she pursed a career as a veterinary technician.  During her schooling, Tanya played an important role in the Adoption Committee, and upon graduating received the Student Leadership Award.  She has been with the Toronto Equine Hospital since 2008 and is a valued member of the team.  Tanya has many professional interests, but her main interest is in surgery.  She enjoys being a part of the surgical team and assisting with surgical procedures. Tanyas spare time is spent with Preston and her handsome baby boy Lucas.

 

 

 

 

Dianna Smith, RVT

Dianna Smith

Dianna has worked in the veterinary field since 2009, starting out as a co-op student at a small animal practice. She then went on to pursue a career as an RVT graduating from the Veterinary Technician Program at Seneca College in 2013. Her experience with horses started at a young age competing in hunter/jumper shows and working at a Thoroughbred/Quarter farm in their breeding division. Dianna’s veterinary interests include anaesthesia, nuclear scintigraphy and patient care. She spends her free time at the barn riding her part-boarded OTTB, playing with her adopted dog Echo and relaxing at the cottage.

 

 

 

 

 

Mike Nehaul

Veterinary Assistant

Mike NehaulMike joined the practice in 2012 and is considered a true “jack-of-all-trades”.  His contribution to the team includes helping with surgical and nuclear scintigraphy cases, recovering horses from surgery, and patient management, among others.  Mike has always had a high respect for animals and has worked with horses in various capacities throughout his career.  His personal interests include playing music, travelling, and spending time with his family.

 

 

 

 

Kaleb Gardiner, RVT

After completing his veterinary technician placement with us at the Toronto Equine Hospital, Kaleb became the newest member of our team. Kaleb is a highly qualified recruit who comes to us with a plethora of horse experience which includes working for a thoroughbred horse trainer and being a groom. Kaleb`s personal attributes are also an asset to the team along with his professional experiences; that is to say that Kaleb`s distinctive calm demeanour is incredibly helpful with the horses, clients and fellow employees. Kaleb`s first foray into animal medicine education was at Sheridan College where he completed a program in animal care in 2012. From there, Kaleb went on to complete his Veterinary Technician diploma at Georgian College. His veterinary medical interests include dentistry and anesthesia as well as the general surgery procedures including prep and recovery. Kaleb`s personal interests include hiking, fishing and spending time with his two cats Molly and Violet.
